Hello, everyone. Glad you could join us at the Oaks again. It’s another week and we have another wedding vendor to showcase. Here at the Oaks, we always strive to help with your wedding planning tasks and make them as easy as possible. Today, Kathy Blanchard Photos will tell you about how her love for photography evolved into a business that’s almost 2 decades old That’s almost20 years of lovely wedding photos.

  • So Kathy, You’re a Wedding Photographer, yes?

I am. For the better part of my life, I’ve been documenting weddings and families in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. Being a wedding photographer is not just a means of livelihood for me, no. I’ve had a deep passion for photography almost since I can remember. I love it. People are drawn to photography for their various reasons but for me, it’s always been about capturing couples at their happiest; the dynamics between them is the perfect subject for such photos. Wedding days are amazing, which is why I make sure each shot I take comes out exactly the way the couples want it.

  • Can You Elaborate on That?

Of course. I take time out before the big day to meet with the couple. I ask them questions about who they are and what they wish for their wedding; their thoughts about how the event should happen. With that knowledge, it’s much easier to cater to the couple’s vision and interpret what they want the wedding photos to look like. Also, most of my customers are not aware of this until I start taking the photos, but I put in a lot of effort to bring out the goofiest side of couples. It always makes for great shots. With that being said, the most important thing is still what the couples want, so I place priority over that.

  • What if the Couples Are Undecided?

Funny you should say that because only a few months ago, I catered to a couple that were unsure of what they wanted their wedding photos to look like. All I needed to handle the problem was just a slight idea of what they were considering or what they sought. I simply suggested ideas that tapered towards the lone one they had and expanded on it. They loved the options we both came up with.

Creating Pinterest boards is also something I do; so great ideas can be shared with the couple. Likewise, I always seek for unique, perfect locations to take the pictures. Almost every location I’ve shot in is different from the next and the couples always love it!
