4 Things to Do If You Have to Cancel or Postpone Your Wedding Because Of Coronavirus

Your wedding is one of the best parts of your life, but when it suddenly becomes threatened by a pandemic like Coronavirus, there are some serious questions to be answered. There are now 149 confirmed cases as of March 19, 2020, in Maryland and the CDC has advised that weddings be postponed for about 8 weeks. So, the question now is what should you do? Well, we at the Oaks tried to answer that as much as we could in the following few paragraphs.

  • Should I Postpone or Cancel My Wedding?

Well, the CDC advised and it was not an order. Besides if you were planning an intimate wedding of fewer than 50 people, you’d be free to go ahead. Just be sure to put safety measures in place and discuss with your vendors and other services to make sure that things are okay. Communication is really important at this time.

  • The First Thing to Do

You should first contact your venue and your vendors. Have a conversation which each of them about postponing. Since this is a difficult time, everyone is being understanding and flexible in terms of rescheduling and reassuring customers. You are not alone.

  • How Do I Keep Guests Updated?

If you don’t already have one, then get a wedding website. It will be most effective in communicating with your guests at this time. You can also send emails and text messages.

  • What About Wedding Insurance?

For most insurers, if your venue has to close you will be covered. Call your insurance agent with any questions you might have and monitor the situation with the government too. If you don’t have any insurance, it might be tricky, but first, call your venue to find out what they are doing and would suggest. It could turn out helpful. Speaking directly with your suppliers could also be helpful too

We’re still thinking of you here at The Oaks and we still want you to have the best wedding ever, even if it is at a later date. We hope things get better but, in the meantime, please reach out to us with any questions you might have. Contact us today!
